Worksites
Healthy Maine Works

Healthy Maine Works is a project of the Maine CDC, Maine Office of Substance Abuse, and Maine Department of Education delivered in collaboration with local Healthy Maine Partnerships.  The purpose of Healthy Maine Works is to guide and support Maine employers in developing worksite wellness programs which support the health of employees.  Supporting employee health is good for business – it can improve business performance and impact the bottom line; it helps individuals and families stay well; and ultimately it is good for Maine.

Healthy Maine Works is an online toolkit that guides employers in developing worksite wellness programs.  It offers individual and organizational assessment tools to establish health related priorities, provides detailed recommendations for new programs, and allows users to sort and prioritize interventions into a wellness action plan.  With no-costs and minimal time commitment, Healthy Maine Works greatly simplifies the process of choosing the right interventions for worksite wellness programs.

Healthy Maine Works was created as a core strategy to improve the health of Maine people, through worksites.  Its straightforward design, along with guidance from local Healthy Maine Partnership staff, makes it an easy to use tool that is helpful to businesses of all sizes in all parts of the state.  Worksite wellness research indicates that well designed programs help healthy people stay healthy and help those with existing health problems to improve their health behaviors and ultimately their health outcomes.  The Healthy Maine Works interventions are research based and provide detailed interventions and resources to help Maine employers create effective wellness programs.

Regardless of whether or not a worksite has a wellness program, Healthy Maine Works is a useful tool.  For employers just getting started, the simple, guided, and no-cost process for developing a worksite wellness plan is a great first step.  For worksites with existing programs, the tried and tested interventions combined with the expertise and resources provided by Healthy Maine Partnership staff, will give any wellness program a boost.
