Tobacco Education

Why is it so hard to Quit?

It is NOT an exaggeration to call tobacco use an
addiction, nicotine the drug contained in all tobacco
products is highly addictive. And it is a complex
addiction involving both physical and psychological
  dependence.

It is normal to take many attempts to become a
non- tobacco user, don't give up quitting or asking for
  help when you need it.

HMP is a collaborative effort among 28 local
coalitions, the Maine DHHS (Maine CDC and Office of Substance Abuse) and DOE, supported primarily by the Fund for Healthy Maine with federal grants from the US CDC, SAMHSA, and DOE.
